Center for Global Impact – Samantha’s Story

The Project

We have worked with the Center for Global Impact (CGI) for over 5 years now. We’ve made a variety of videos for them, but they were looking for something a little different this time. This year at the North American Christian Convention CGI had the opportunity to present at the women’s luncheon and wanted a video to be part of the presentation. The purpose of the video was to show how anybody can get involved and make a difference with CGI, helping at-risk women in Cambodia. With that in mind, we set out to find the right story to tell for this event.

The Challenge

As with most good stories, there is always a challenge. We did several phone interviews with different women who could possibly be in the story, but we ultimately just settled on one person, Samantha, who lives in Alabama. The challenge for this video was to tie in Samantha’s love of horses with the story of CGI. One of the things that Samantha spoke about in our pre-interviews was how blessed she was (horses, husband, home) as compared to the women in Cambodia that CGI works with. She mentioned that she “has a life that she wants to give from” and that’s why she helps CGI. So, we used the horses to represent her life and tied that in with CGI. We also went with the horse angle because it was unique and provided a bit of mystery about how her love of horses had anything to do with CGI. All in all, we came away with a great video that the client was pleased with that helped show that anyone can be involved and make a difference.
