Beginning a New Season
As we embark on a new year, many of us are taking the time to recap the previous year, cast a vision for the year ahead, and equip ourselves and those around us with what we need to reach our goals going forward. Whether personally or professionally, it’s always a good idea to celebrate where we’ve been and generate excitement for where we’re headed. While the beginning of a new calendar year is often a good time assess and regroup, the beginning of a work season or business cycle makes more sense for some companies.

For our client Milestone Contractors, much of their work is seasonal, meaning the perfect time to gather is prior to their busy season. They held a kick-off event, where they were able to network with colleagues, explore vendor and product options, learn from guest presenters, and hear from leadership about the previous and upcoming work season. With photography, our objective was two-fold. First, we were tasked with capturing all aspects of the event to give them images to share and promote internally. We’ve shared a few of those images in the gallery below.

We were also asked to provide headshots for anyone in attendance who wanted an update. Everything took place in one large room, so we set up a backdrop and flashes on a side wall and were available to take headshots between sessions. Having a photography station like this at a company-wide event is a really efficient way of updating headshots all at once. Instead of traveling around to different locations, we were able to get most everyone in the same place at the same time. This approach enables a large number of people to participate and helps to ensure consistency on websites, in emails, or on organization charts. Below is a sampling of the headshots we delivered.
To get the headshots, we set up a simple gray paper backdrop, a flash, and reflector. Here are a couple behind-the-scenes photos of our set-up.
